the officiant spoke these moving lyrics of hanson's 'mmmbop' [ yes, the entire songful of moving lyrics ] to the crowded cook-dewitt chapel filled with all of katie + nick's close family + friends. for those in the group that 'got it', there was laughter. for those that didn't [ me ] a confused smile just happy to be here. katie + her sister are traveling hanson fans [ honestly, didn't know that was still a thing ] so this little ceremony surprise was pretty great of their officiant-friend to throw in.
this alone should clue you in to the kind of couple that they are. fun, lighthearted. they bring an energy of love and laughter to everyone in the room. they love each other deeply, but aren't afraid to still be goofballs in the process.
their day was perfect from top to bottom - starting with the dad + daughter first look [ um, more of those, please ] to some of the best vow-writing...

...to frolicking in a field of dandelions with their crazy bridal party to playing the shoely wed game [ a first for me! ]. their day was perfect because it felt so 'them.'
i loved every minute + can't wait to meet up with these two at the elk on cheap pint night, soon. until then - love you guys.
p.s. ultra-big-huge thank you to katie's mom + sister for making me feel like the long-lost third alman daughter. you guys were amazing.
